After 8 years of travel with my baby boy during which we visited 19 countries and had countless adventures, we plunged deep into Europe for a month this summer.
We were met by family from home in the USA as well as our Spanish tribe.
You cannot always anticipate your child’s experience, and much to my surprise, this last month was challenging. Dealing with changing dynamics in his father’s home in addition to a lot of moving pieces, this trip, which typically would have been one of celebration and play, left my boy much in need to be held and comforted by his mama (yours truly).
I was grateful to have such rich friendships abroad to support us during this time of release and transition for my son. One never knows what might happen, but we strive to keep our hearts open. We always remember to look up, too. There is so much to see…our senses were overloaded with the richness and newness we encountered, and adventuring was key.
Open-hearted adventure was the mantra I cherished as I held my boy and guided him through his first true expression of emotional growth. As we ride the waves of life, watching the sea move in and out helps to show how real it all is.
We have wings, my son, and we can choose to fly ️❤️ !
