Nothing is more gratifying to my children than “making” and playing in water!
I spend a big part of each day serving up food and drinks to the children. So earlier this summer, I bought a big glass drink dispenser. I usually set it up on the dining room table or take it outside to our garden.
My two younger daughters love the process of “making our water” as they call it. They fill it carefully (okay, not so carefully) with ice, I fill a pitcher with water a few times, and then they take turns pouring it into the dispenser. If we are feeling fancy, we add lemon or orange slices. We put out our rainbow (Heller) mugs, flanked on both sides of the dispenser, and they all run over to grab a color.
The children love the independence of picking out and filling up their own mugs. They drink much more water on hot summer days because they are so proud of their little labor of love.
